1. Overview
WordCatcher — Selection Assistant ("the extension") is a browser extension that lets you look up dictionary definitions of words you select on web pages, listen to pronunciations, save words to your WordCatcher wordbook (www.wordcatcher.cn), and optionally send them to your local Anki. This policy describes what data the extension handles, why, and how. It applies to the extension itself; the WordCatcher website has its own privacy policy.

3. What we do not collect
- We do not read the content of pages you visit, other than the text you actively select.
- We do not collect or transmit page URLs, browsing history, or tabs information. Saving a word sends only the word itself (and your optional note) — never the page it came from.
- We do not collect health, financial, personal communications, or location data.
- We do not sell data or use it for advertising, credit scoring, or lending.
4. How data is used (Limited Use)
Data handled by the extension is used solely to provide the single purpose described above: looking up selected words, playing pronunciations, and managing your own wordbook/Anki collection. We do not use or transfer this data for any other purpose, including advertising, resale, or profiling.
5. Third-party services
- WordCatcher service: lookup, audio and wordbook requests go to the service address you configured — by default the official service at
www.wordcatcher.cn. This is the developer's own service, not a third party. - Custom dictionary endpoints (optional, off by default): if you add your own dictionary API endpoint in settings, the extension requests host permission for that endpoint only when you confirm, and sends lookup requests to it with your own credentials.
- Anki (optional): if enabled, words are sent to your locally running Anki desktop via AnkiConnect. Nothing leaves your machine.
- We do not embed analytics SDKs, ad networks, or trackers.
6. Storage and retention
Local data (token, user profile, settings) lives in your browser's extension storage and is removed by uninstalling the extension or by logging out. Server-side data (your wordbook, notes, learning records) is retained while your WordCatcher account exists; you can export it or delete your account at any time from the website's settings page, which erases your personal data irreversibly.
7. Your choices and rights
- The extension performs no lookups and stores no words until you actively select text or click save.
- You can log out (removes the token), clear settings, or uninstall the extension at any time.
- You may request export or deletion of your account data at www.wordcatcher.cn (Settings → export / delete account).

3. 我们不采集什么
- 不读取你访问页面的内容——除你主动划选的文本之外。
- 不采集、不上传页面 URL、浏览历史或标签页信息。收词请求只包含单词本身（及你的可选笔记），不含来源页面。
- 不采集健康、金融、通信、位置等数据。
- 不出售数据，不用于广告、信用评估或放贷。
4. 数据用途（Limited Use）
扩展处理的数据仅用于上文所述单一用途：查询划选的词、播放发音、管理你自己的生词本与 Anki 收藏。不为任何其他目的使用或转移数据，包括广告、转售或画像。
5. 第三方服务
- 生词捕快服务：查词、发音、生词本请求发往你配置的服务地址——默认为官方服务
www.wordcatcher.cn（开发者自有服务，非第三方）。 - 自定义词典端点（可选，默认关）：仅当你在设置中主动添加自己的词典 API 端点并确认授权后，扩展才会向该端点发送查询请求（使用你自备的密钥）。
- Anki（可选）：开启后单词经 AnkiConnect 发往你本机运行的 Anki 桌面版，数据不出你的电脑。
- 不内嵌任何统计 SDK、广告网络或追踪器。
6. 存储与保留
本地数据（令牌、账号资料、设置）保存在浏览器扩展存储中，卸载扩展或退出登录即删除。服务端数据（生词本、笔记、学习记录）在你的账号存在期间保留；你可随时在网站设置页导出或注销账号，注销后个人数据不可恢复地删除。
7. 你的选择与权利
- 你不划词、不点保存，扩展就不查询、不存词。
- 可随时退出登录（清除令牌）、清除设置或卸载扩展。
- 可在 www.wordcatcher.cn 申请导出或删除账号数据（设置页 → 导出 / 注销）。
